Preparing for Car Lift
A car lift is commonly used for various maintenance tasks such as chassis repairs, oil changes, and tire replacements. Depending on their functions and designs, car lifts can be categorized into single-column, double-column, four-column, and scissor lifts. The following instructions primarily focus on the frequently utilized scissor car lifts. To begin, switch on the power knob of the hoist, then lower it to its lowest position. Next, extend the swing arm straight towards both sides, allowing easy access for the vehicle to enter this position. Drive the vehicle to a suitable position and adjust its placement so that the center of gravity aligns closely with the center of the car lift. Engage the parking brake and secure the vehicle in place. Slowly rotate the swing arm and tray into position on the vehicle, adjusting the length of the swing arm as needed until it is securely in place.
Safety Measures for Cars on Car Lifts
Ensure that the tray of the car lift is adjusted to the appropriate height, ensuring the vehicle remains level. Accurately align the tray slot with the position of the body support point. Steel plates are typically used for reinforcement at the four support points of the car lift to withstand additional force. Press the up button to elevate the vehicle until the tires are off the ground. Shake the vehicle to confirm its stability. Start the winch and ensure that the fulcrum makes contact with the vehicle. Recheck the fulcrum’s position, lifting the vehicle 300mm off the ground after confirming its accuracy. While the car lift raises the vehicle, personnel should avoid being near or underneath the elevator. Once the desired height is reached, insert the safety latch to guarantee safety and reliability before proceeding with any operations under the vehicle. When lowering the vehicle, lift it slightly, open the safety latch, and then slowly press the lower button until the lifting arm reaches its lowest position. Remove the lifting arm and drive the vehicle off the lift.
